The Kartarpur corridor should open soon to allow Sikhs from India to visit the holy shrine of Guru Nanak Dev in Narowal. But, will this new corridor bring peace between India and Pakistan? Let’s find out.

The Kartarpur Corridor, a highly awaited religious project comprehending the establishment of a corridor from Dera Baba Nanak to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, Pakistan with the purpose of providing free access for Sikh Shri Darbar Sahib Amritsar.

The Kartarpur Corridor will allow Sikh pilgrims to visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, near the border in Pakistan. This will help millions of Sikhs commemorate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

The Kartarpur Corridor was announced during the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Pakistan on December 25, 2018. The Corridor will connect Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur to the Gurudwara Darbar Sahib at Kartarpur on the India-Pakistan border.

India has long been pressing for a visa-free regime with Pakistan, given that the neighbouring country is only separated from it by a major river. But Pakistan continues to cite security concerns as its prime reason for not allowing Indians to enter their territory without prior permission.

The Visa For Kartarpur is a special visa issued by Pakistan to Indian pilgrims who wish to visit the Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan. This visa allows Indians from the other side of the border to enter Pakistan and worship at their holy site.

A visit to Kartarpur can be done with the help of a visa. The visa can be obtained by visiting the Indian Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan.

The visa can be obtained either by post or in person. When applying for a visa by post, you will need to submit the following:

  • A passport that is valid for at least six months after your return date;
  • Two photos (three if your passport has expired);
  • A photocopy of your passport;
  • A copy of your itinerary; and
  • An application form.

Kartarpur, a border town in the Indian state of Punjab, is a place of great significance to both Muslims and Sikhs. It was the birthplace of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism, and is also central to the history of Islam in India.

In November 2019, Pakistan announced that it would be opening up a visa-free corridor between Kartarpur and its eastern city of Lahore so that pilgrims from India can visit the shrine. The country has said that it will start issuing visas for up to 5,000 pilgrims per day starting December 1st, 2020.

The Kartarpur Corridor is a proposed passenger and freight link between the Indian city of Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur district (Punjab) and the city of Kartarpur in Narowal District, Punjab. The corridor will be opened on November 5, 2020.

The corridor will serve as a link between the historic Gurudwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur and its sister Gurdwara Sri Guru Ram Das Ji at Dera Baba Nanak Sahib. The opening of this corridor will also provide easy access to Sikh pilgrims visiting Gurudwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, who currently have to travel through the Wagah Border.

The Kartarpur Corridor is a proposed two-way road link between the Pakistani city of Dera Baba Nanak and the Indian city of Gurdaspur. The corridor will allow Sikh pilgrims from India to visit the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib at Kartarpur, which is located just across the border in Pakistan.

The proposal was first made in February 2019 by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Imran Khan, who agreed on its construction during a meeting between their respective delegations in New Delhi. The proposal has received widespread support from both the governments and public of India and Pakistan, as well as many members of Sikhism.

In June 2019, Indian Home Minister Amit Shah announced plans for an 8-km bridge across the Ravi River to connect Dera Baba Nanak with Gurdaspur. The bridge is expected to be completed by 2022, with construction starting shortly after approval by both governments.
