Who let’s their 1 year old travel with them, anyway? I know vacations are a little more laid back but really, one year old? I told my wife I would never, ever do that. I was wrong.

Traveling with a toddler can be very exciting, but it can also be stressful. Check out these tips for traveling with a 1 year old for a stress-free vacation.

Traveling with a one year old is a challenge. I’m not going to sugar coat it for you guys. When we first started traveling with our little guy, I had nobody to ask for tips and advice. In fact, before we left the country with him, I stopped in at the local AAA office and bought a vacation guide to help plan our trip and feel prepared.

When you plan family vacations, there is the expectation that your kids will enjoy the experience. But too often, the vacation falls short of parents’ expectations because their little ones are simply not capable of meeting that standard. The good news is; you can make it work. Beaches are one of the most popular destinations for all travelers. When tot-friendliness — not ocean views — is your prime concern, look for beach spots with plenty of family attractions and services.

A national park is the perfect place to cultivate a lifelong love of nature. Toddlers will be wide-eyed and wondrous at the towering trees, blue sky and curious critters they encounter in these great green spaces — best seen from the stroller, child carrier or bike trailer.
