During the 14 years of my life, I’ve been visiting Chattanooga with my parents and cousins. One of my greatest vacations was when I was in kindergarten. We stayed at a Bed & Breakfast called “1 Choo Choo Place”. There we enjoyed the view from Lookout Mountain, and played on a structure resembling a castle.

Incline Railway

Ruby Falls
You can journey 1,120 ft. under the earth to see the largest and deepest waterfall open to the public in the U.S. Make your way through the cave that was discovered in 1928 by Leo Lambert. Learn his story of how he came to find the waterfall and how he named it. After a tour, soar above the trees on ZipStream Aerial along 700 feet for an adventurous roundtrip flight. The 40-ft. Climbing Tower has five routes of scurrying challenges.
Rock City
See seven states in one place; take a panoramic photo at Lover’s Leap that also houses the beautiful High Falls; and travel through Fairyland Caverns. Some of Rock City’s famous gnomes guide you as you meander through the cave. Walk along the 180-foot suspension bridge to take in the views of the Chattanooga Valley.

Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park

This historic spot tells the Civil War’s Battle Above the Clouds that took place November 1863. The Chickamauga Battlefield is the largest part of the military park. Meander among the monuments, battlefields, forests and urban landscapes of the U.S.’s first military park (it was dedicated in 1895).
Hunter Museum of American Art
Artwork from Colonial period to present day are housed in the art building that is perched on an 80-ft. bluff on the edge of the Tennessee River. Mixed media, sculpture, photography and paintings by some of the world’s leading artists from past and present are on display for visitors to interact.
Charles H Coolidge National Medal of Honor Heritage Center
Learn about the first Medal of Honor recipient Private Jacob Parrott who served in “The Great Locomotive Chase” that ended outside of Chattanooga and the other 3,500 soldiers, Marines and sailors after him who showcased patriotism, citizenship, courage, integrity, sacrifice and commitment in their service to the U.S. The heritage center is home to more than 6,000 items that commemorate military heroes such as firearms, uniforms, personal scrapbooks, dioramas and more.

Newly reopened Songbirds Guitar & Pop Culture Museum brings the music history of the guitar to Chattanooga’s Southside District.
