Ukraine Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Ukraine tourist visa is under the short-term (type C) visa.
  • Short-term visa is issued for tourism, investments, festivals and medical treatments.
  • It can be issued for three different entry types:
    • Single-entry: allows one entry 
    • Double-entry: allows two entries 
    • Multiple-entry: allows multiple entries 
  • In summary, the single-entry visa allows you to enter Ukraine once, the double-entry twice, while the multiple-entry visa allows you to leave and re-enter Ukraine multiple times during its validity.
  • Single-entry, double-entry and multiple-entry costs 72 USD, 124 USD and 176 USD respectively.
  • For minors under 6 years, visas are issued free of charge.
  • This visa is valid for a maximum of five(5) years with a stay period of 90 days in every 180 days.
  • Since 15/01/2018, visa applications into Ukraine are received only through the VFS application center.
  • An invitation letter from the Ukrainian host containing personal details of the host and details of the applicant, purpose of the visit, duration of visit, number of entries and place of residence in Ukraine is required.
  • A bank statement not older than 6 months is required. It should show that the applicant has enough money for the trip.
  • Details of accommodation reservations in Ukraine should also be provided by the applicant during the visa application.
  • All documents issued by any authority in Nigeria must be legalized and submitted with its translation in Ukrainian language.
  • Generally, it takes 10 working days to process the visa but urgent visa issuance or visa issuance during non-working hours will require double the consular fee.
  • If your visa application is refused, the Consul will inform you of the reason why it was refused. The applicant can then submit a written letter of appeal within 30 days requesting a reconsider.
  • The appeal should address every reason stated for the refusal. If after the Consul does not alter its decision afterward, you will be notified.
  • Submitting an appeal letter is free of charge, however, the consul will not refund the initial visa processing fees if your visa is rejected.
  • You can apply for a visa extension. The application should be submitted to the State Migration Service in Ukraine between 3-10 working days before your current visa expires.
  • An individual who overstays a visa validity will be issued a warning or fined between 510 UAH and 850 UAH which must be paid within 15 days from the day the applicant was fined.

Ukraine Student Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Ukraine issues student visas to foreign individuals who are interested in attending academic institutions in the country.
  • It is also issued for internships in organizations or institutions of learning.
  • To apply for this visa, the applicant has to get a valid invitation letter from the particular institution. The original invitation and a photocopy should be submitted.
  • Ensure that there are no mistakes in the invitation and that the personal details match those in your International passport.
  • The invitation letter should be registered according to the procedure established by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
  • A student visa is for multiple-entries and is also known as a long-term visa (type D). It is valid for a period of over 90 days.
  • It is important that the passport photograph submitted with the application form online should be of high quality.
  • Basic education students are allowed into Ukraine between 15 August and 15 November each year.
  • Original birth certificate and a photocopy legalized by the Ministry of Foreign affairs in Nigeria is required. The birth certificate should be translated into Ukrainian.
  • Applicants of this visa are to provide a sponsorship letter made by a court affidavit. The letter should contain the sponsor’s personal details (full name, address, contact number, email) and to what extent the applicant will be sponsored.
  • Signed photocopies of the sponsor’s ID card or passport, and a bank statement of the sponsor’s personal account (not older than 6 months) showing sufficient funds to cover the applicant’s expenses for the first year will be required.
  • University or tertiary institution applicants will have to present the original copy of their college school-leaving certificate, statement of results and photocopies of both, legalized by the Ministry of Foreign affairs in Nigeria.
  • A legalized medical certificate of general fitness with its Ukrainian translation should be submitted.
  • The medical certificate is usually valid for two months which means that the individual has to apply to the institution in Ukraine within two months of the certificate’s issuance.
  • Along with the medical certificate, the applicant must have health insurance with a coverage of at least £30,000. The health insurance should be valid throughout the study duration.
  • A physical interview is required. However, the embassy accepts appointments for visa interviews about 3 months in advance and the number of each slot is limited.
  • Receipt of 176 USD paid for visa fees should be among the submitted documents.

Ukraine Transit Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Ukraine transit visa is called a type B visa.
  • Individuals who are travelling to a third country through Ukraine are eligible for this visa.
  • It can also be issued as single-entry, double-entry and multiple-entry just like the tourist visa.
  • The transit visa cannot be used for any other purpose apart for transiting through Ukraine territory.
  • The validity of the visa is 1 year but the period of stay in Ukraine per transit must not exceed 5 days. 
  • Just like the tourist visa, the fees for visa processing depends on the type of entry applied for.
  • Single-entry costs 72 USD, double-entry 124 USD and multiple-entry 176 USD. All fees are non-refundable.
  • For a transit visa, an onward ticket and visa for the next destination is required.
  • Typically it takes 10 working days to process a Ukrainian visa but the period may be extended for up to 30 working days if considered necessary by the Consul.
  • It is advisable that you do not overstay your visa.
