What Are The Financial Requirements To Enter Thailand?
To enter Thailand, you need to prove that you have enough money to support yourself during your trip. This is what’s known as the financial requirement. It’s a standard requirement for most countries around the globe.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that you need to prove that you have a minimum of 20,000 Baht or around $700 per person. If you plan to travel with your family, you need a minimum of 40,000 Baht or $1,500.

What Type Of Thailand Tourist Visa Should I Apply For?
There are two types of Thailand Tourist Visas. The single entry visa and the multiple entry visa (MEV). You can select the visa type you wish to apply for during the application process.
Generally, you’ll apply for a single entry Tourist Visa. As the name suggests, it allows you to enter Thailand once. On the other hand, the multiple entry visa will allow you to enter Thailand more than once.
Be mindful that you need to provide sufficient proof of regular travel to Thailand when applying for a multiple entry visa.

The amount payable may vary depending on your nationality. However, US citizens need to pay the following:
- Single entry Tourist Visa – USD 40
- Multiple entry Tourist Visa – USD 200
What Is The Processing Time For The Thailand Tourist Visa?
Once you submit a complete Thailand Tourist Visa application, the processing time for your visa is around 15 business days.
It’s possible for the processing time to be delayed due to unforeseen circumstances such as an incomplete application, a sudden demand in visa applications, and so on.
What Are The COVID-19 Requirements To Enter Thailand?
You need to meet specific covid entry requirements before traveling to Thailand. One of these requirements is applying for a Thailand Health Pass. I highly recommend reading the guide before traveling. It includes very helpful information about the pass and who needs it.
Furthermore, you’ll need to have the following:
- A negative COVID-19 test result (RT-PCR).
- Medical insurance with a minimum coverage of $50,000. It should cover all medical expenses that may occur during your trip (including COVID-19 costs).

What Type Of Accommodation Should I Book In Thailand?
Due to the global pandemic, Thailand has implemented the Thailand Health Pass. To ensure the safety of all visitors and locals, the government has set out a few requirements under the Thailand Health Pass. One is that you need to have a hotel reservation at certain approved hotels in Thailand.
The good news is that you only need to stay at these hotels for a short duration. The duration you need to stay at these hotels is determined by your vaccination status.

What Are The Required Documents For The Thailand Tourist Visa?

If you’re not a US citizen, don’t worry. The documents you need are similar to that of the documents found below. You might need to prepare extra documents depending on your nationality.

Remember to scan the required documents and save them on your computer/phone. Then, you’ll need to upload the necessary documents online.
Here are the documents you need to submit when applying for your Thailand Tourist Visa:
- The Biometric page of your passport or official travel document
- A recent photograph of yourself
- A signed declaration form
- Flight ticket or reservation
- Proof of accommodation at an approved hotel (as mentioned above)
- Proof of financial funds like a bank statement, paychecks, etc.
- Proof that you’re a legal residence in the country you’re applying from (an electric bill, water bill, police clearance, and so on)
- A copy of your passport pages that include all your previous visas and travels of the last 12 months
- A document that verifies your current residency (your passport, birth certificate, citizenship certificate, etc.)
