Shearman & Sterling has a well-established “Vacation Scheme” program, which is open to students who have completed the Legal Practice Course (LPC). The scheme is divided up into two parts:

  • A training contract that lasts one year, during which you will work in areas such as private equity, capital markets and banking. After this stage you can either choose to stay with the firm or leave after six months’ notice.
  • If you decide to stay on as an associate lawyer at Shearman & Sterling, your salary will be around £80k per annum.

You may also be given a chance to gain some experience of working in one or more of our practice areas during your placement, as well as assisting in administrative tasks such as drafting letters for clients or reviewing documents for commercial transactions.
