According to BBC reports, starting from December 2011 A post study work permit in Scotland is going to be introduced for all internationally educated students who complete higher education in Scotland.

The Post-Study WorkPermit Scheme allows international students currently in Scotland, who have graduated from a higher education institution in the past 4 years,to stay and work in Scotland for up to two years after graduation.The Working Group on Migration(SGWM) has themed its consultation for this round of reforms as “Scotland’s priorities for future migration”.We believe that the current Post-Study Work Permit Scheme does not represent Scotland’s interests.

The Post Study Work Permit is a visa that allows you to stay in the UK for 18 months if you have completed a course of study longer than six months at an educational institution. You can get this post study work after completing a course at college or university. You must satisfy different conditions to be eligible for getting the permit and then you can work without any restrictions. This may lead to permanent residence in the UK.

Following the UK’s exit from the EU, students from the EU and the EEA including Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland, who arrive in the UK from 1 January 2021 will need to apply for the new Student route.
