The month of February is here (kinda), and what better way to celebrate the arrival of winter than to take a holiday, or call in sick, and just stay at home. If you are holidaying, where should you go? We would like to share some of our favorite warm places that have great weather throughout the year.

You’re probably thinking only of cold places to go in february — well you’re wrong. There are actually a lot of warm places to vacation during february. The month between January and March has that awkward limbo stage of cold weather in some areas and hot weather in others. Even if you don’t want or can’t vacation outside, your home could use a bit of warmth this time of year and there’s no better route to it than with the best warm places to vacation in february!

The month of February is a great time to vacation, especially if you’re looking for warm weather. Here are some of our favorite places to visit in February!

Florida

Florida is a great place to go because it’s warm and sunny all year. The state is home to many popular destinations that are ideal for families and those looking to escape the cold. It has many different beaches and parks that are fun for kids and adults alike!

California

California has some amazing weather in February, with temperatures averaging around 60 degrees Fahrenheit! You can enjoy beautiful beaches or hike up mountains while enjoying the sunshine.

Antarctica

February is one of the best months to visit Antarctica because it’s summer in the Southern Hemisphere. Summer there means temperatures sometimes above zero — not exactly swimsuit weather — but the sun shines 18 hours every day, and there’s no rain.

It’s the ideal time for seeing humpback, minke, and orca whales as well as seals and newly hatched penguin chicks. Antarctica is a once-in-a-lifetime trip for most travelers, so it’s critical to choose the excursion that fits your needs and interests. Hurtigruten Expeditions, the world’s largest expedition cruise company, features the battery-hybrid powered MS Roald Amundsen and MS Fram, departing from Punta Arenas, Chile.

Austria

Picture yourself schussing down the same hills as the world’s best skiers in Innsbruck, three-time home of the Winter Olympics. Or in Kitzbühel, the only Austrian resort in the ICON pass program. In Sölden, winter sports fans can find not only skiing, snowboarding, snowshoe hiking, and tobogganing, but there’s also James Bond 007 Elements, commemorating 2015’s “Spectre,” with action sequences filmed in the mountains of Sölden.

Austria offers more than winter sports, although the snow-covered Alps are magnificent even if you’re enjoying them in front of a fireplace sipping schnapps. Salzburg is charming any time of the year, and Graz is another Austrian city to add to your itinerary.

Maldives

If your vision of paradise involves turquoise water lapping below your bedroom and tall palm trees lining your path to dinner, the Maldives is the perfect place for your next vacation. An idyllic wonderland that causes visitors to relax as soon as they step off the plane, this nirvana is best visited in February.

This is the driest month of the year, so you won’t have to worry about monsoons washing the sand from the soft, white beaches. And with temperatures in the mid to upper 80s Fahrenheit, sprawling on the beach for hours is a welcome activity. Other fun things to do in the Maldives in February include snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, SUPing, kayaking, and sandcastle building.

As if the Maldives aren’t romantic enough, the magnificent isles that make up this gorgeous archipelago are peppered with iconic hotels and resorts boasting overwater bungalows.

Mexico

If you’re hoping to escape the cold in February, a trip to Mexico is just the thing to ward off goosebumps. With temperatures in the high 70s Fahrenheit, you’ll be able to enjoy the country’s best sights without either sweltering or freezing. February is also one of the driest months, which means you won’t run too big a risk of getting wet on your fun adventures.

Head to Cancún for some well-deserved beach time, explore the impressive Mayan ruins at Chichén Itzà, or visit the Maya Museum. Still looking for activities? Head to the marina, embark on a fishing trip, or lounge on the pristine beaches in Cabo San Lucas.

While Mexico’s high season is technically December through April, the number of tourists drop off during February, so you’ll gain a bit of a break from the crowds when visiting at this time. But, the prices will still be on the higher side compared to other times of the year.

Maui, Hawaii

The month of February is a sweet-spot opportunity to visit the Hawaiian island of Maui. It has ideal weather conditions, and in February, you are in-between winter vacationers and the onslaught of spring break visitors. You will still find higher rates this time of the year for hotel rooms and airfare, but it is the ideal time to visit-especially for whale-watching.

This is also when you will find nearly ideal weather conditions for hitting Wailea or Kaanapali beach, snorkeling, or catching a sunrise at the top of Haleakala National Park volcano. There is so much to do in Maui that you can fill your itinerary, from the morning cup of coffee to the evening luau, or have no agenda at all.

New Orleans

New Orleans, Louisiana is hands-down one of the best places to travel in February, and we have Mardi Gras to thank for that. Due to its popularity (we know you’ve seen pictures of the ornate costumes, vibrant parades, and exciting celebrations), it’s advisable to plan well ahead when booking your hotel and flight. And be prepared for a bit of sticker shock. Popularity comes with higher prices, as you well know.

Despite the higher prices and large crowds, Mardi Gras is a bucket-list experience you won’t want to miss! If you are looking for a more family-friendly version of Mardi Gras events or want fewer crowds, plan your travel for the several weekends before Fat Tuesday.
