Gaslight Lounge Anchorage City

Going by the motto “Not a dive bar, but THE dive bar!” The Gaslight at 721 W 4th Ave is a place that should be visited at least once when living or visiting Anchorage. DJ Mark spins Tuesdays to Saturdays from 9 PM till closing time, Free bull rides from Sunday till Thursday 8 PM till 2:30 AM. The Gaslight surely knows how to keep their audience happy and to move around the dancefloor.

A dimly lit bar with a mechanical bull, Yes!, you read it right. A mechanical bull strategically placed in The Gaslight ensures that people inside have the best time sipping beers and having a good laugh. Ping pong, pool table, good music, the Gaslight brings the best Anchorage to their bar.

You can have the best night by booking a table ahead of time and keeping the night exciting. Special drinks, DJs are playing their best tunes, mixing hits of the 80s, 90s, and 2000s for all the people at Gaslight. Drinks like Bulleit Bourbon, Bloody mary are quite sought out as they are the house’s specialties. The House Bands know their way around their tunes and vocals and are a secret weapon to the Gaslight.

The staff at Gaslight are highly professional and cooperative, and you will never have any complaints from them. They accommodate every single person in the bar and acknowledge their presence to their fullest. The allowed age group is 21 and above, which is pretty standard for all bars and clubs in Anchorage. The bar opens from 10 AM till 2:30 AM the next day and is open throughout the week.

So the next time you decide to pay a visit to the 4th Ave, don’t forget The Gaslight and head in without any hesitation. This place is surreal.

Chilkoot Charlie’s (Koots) Anchorage City

When somebody said, “never judge a book by its cover,” he was indeed true. You will never be able to push yourself to go inside this shabby little place in Alaska, but once you do, you will never be able to forget Chilkoot Charlie’s. Located in the center of historic Spenard, Chilkoot Charlie’s first opened its doors in January 1970. “Koots” is the affectionate name given by the customers and the locals.

Throughout its history, Chilkoot Charlie’s has been a host or co-hosted to performers such as Metallica, Ted Nugent, Bad Company, Bryan Adams, Quiet Riot, Great White, Joe Satriani. The Steve Miller Band, Crosby Stills and Nash, Blues Traveler, White Zombie, Bon Jovi, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Ratt, Journey, Ozzy Osbourne, The Beach Boys, Blue Oyster Cult, The Romantics, The Doobie Brothers, Eddie Money, Megadeth, Aerosmith, Styx, Van Halen, Candlebox, Cracker, Berlin, Greenday, and the Scorpions to name a few. Not only this, Chilkoot Charlie’s has received national coverage such as ESPN Good Morning America, David Letterman, and The Johnny Carson Show.

Chilkoot Charlie’s features a rustic Alaskan atmosphere with saw-dust-covered floors. It has three stages, three dance floors, and ten bars with padded tree stumps and beer kegs for seating. Koots serves 21 and above and is open from 11 AM to 2:30 AM from Mondays to Thursdays, 11 AM to 3:00 AM on Fridays and Saturdays, and 11 AM to 2:30 AM on Sundays.

Alleyway Grill serves the best food and liquid courage for you and your friends. To be transported to your favorite childhood arcade, Koots has the best classic arcade games and vintage pinball machines, a roll of quarters, and a $10 pitcher is an easy night out with friends! An Ice Bar is truly a magical experience of your lifetime.  A bar top constructed out of 25 feet of solid ice-the only one in Alaska!, this one features live music and burlesque and much more exciting things happening at the bar.

All in all, Chilkoot Charlie’s a must-visit as it is considered a “Rite of Passage” for an authentic Alaskan experience.

Mad Myrna’s Anchorage City

Mad Myrna’s is a premier LGBTQ+ nightclub and entertainment venue in Anchorage. A full-service bar, dance floor, and various live drag and stage shows, Mad Myrna’s is always ready to give out the best of the best. Located at 530 E 5th Ave, it hosts one of the best electronic hip-hop tunes that will surely make you sway to the beats in no time.

Featuring some of the finest Drag Queens Downtown Anchorage has to contribute, Mad Myrna’s is a unique place. Great drinks at reasonably fair prices, great crowd,  fantastic and talented casts for the show, this lounge has it all. With the cover charge as minimal as $5, you can luxuriously have a wonderful evening with good drinks, music, dance, and waves of laughter. Mad Myrna’s is famous for having a “bit of madness” to its theme, which is prominently seen in their theme nights. Rocky Horror Show, Halloween Nights, Divas Variety Shows all showcase the best Divas on stage. Mad Myrna’s is also voted as The Best Drag Show in the US By Conde Nast Traveler.  This variety show is Alaska’s longest-running all-inclusive Drag Variety Show.

Since the seating is limited, reservations are encouraged to get a seat for as high a ticket as $35. From cocktails to beers and cans to champagnes and wine by the glass, Mad Myrna’s has a wide variety of drinks with the side of madness to them. The staff is accommodating and will ensure that you have a good time in Mad Myrna’s. Some of the Divas to look forward to are Hank Van Dickerson, Golden Delicious, Ivanna Kishacok. The place is infamous for keeping an eye on the little details.
