    • A document that states the registration of the concerned company or organization.

How To Apply For A Maldivian Visa

If an Indian national is travelling to Maldives, he or she does not require a visa prior to arriving at the country and can obtain a visa on arrival at the airport itself. The visa on arrival is valid for a maximum of 90 days. To receive a work permit, an Indian national needs to fill out the work permit form at his or her arrival in the country.

The visa on arrival is exempted from any charges by the Maldives government. To extend the visa for a period of 60 days, an Indian national needs to pay an amount of Rs. 3045.

Maldives may grant visa-free access to Indians arriving for business

According to a statement given by Foreign Ministry, the Maldivian government had initiated a process to grant visa-free entry to Indians travelling for business. Under the process, with effect from 1 February 2022, a non-resident, multiple-entry business visa will be allowed to Indians for 90 days within six months. Moreover, Indians with an approved business visa can renew it for up to 180 days within a calendar year. This process comes as an addition to the visa-free period of 90 days stipulated in the bilateral agreement.

The ministry also added that business visa applications should be submitted to the Ministry of Economic Development before the visa-free entry period expires. Furthermore, Indians holding a business visa whose stay exceeds 180 days in a single year need to submit employment approval.

Visa exemption for Maldivians travelling to India

The Indian government has agreed to resume visa exemption for Maldivians from 15 October 2021. The 2018 visa exemption agreement between India and Maldives was discontinued temporarily due to the corona virus situation. However, the suspension has been removed by the Indian government. As per the agreement, Maldivians travelling to India, no longer require a visa permit. The move has come as an effort to gear up long-closed Indian tourist industry.

New visa agreement between India, Maldives came into effect on Monday

The new visa agreement between India and Maldives came into effect on Monday.  The agreement between both the countries provide a liberal visa policy for Maldivian citizens who seek medical treatment in the country as well as look for education and business opportunities.

As per the new agreement, Maldivian tourists and businessmen will be able to stay in the country for a period of 90 days without needing a visa. Apart from that, citizens of Maldives who are in the country on a tourist visa can stay back for treatment in case they suffer from sudden medical issues. The main motive behind the new agreement is to boost people-to-people ties between both the nations.

It needs to be mentioned here that the new agreement was reached during the visit of Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to India in December last year. The agreement has come to force after all necessary formalities have been completed.
