Lithuania Schengen Visa Application Requirements

Lithuania Entry Restrictions in Response to Coronavirus

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, Lithuania, as well as the rest of the EU and Schengen Area members imposed an EU-wide entry ban on third-country nationals in mid-March 2020.

With the improved epidemiological situation in the EU and abroad, Lithuania has lifted the entry ban for the residents of the safe third-countries as recommended by the EU Council if the incidence rate is less than 25 cases per 100,000 population in those countries in the last 14 days, at the time the travellers show up at the Lithuanian port of entry.

These countries are: Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Rwanda, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Uruguay, China (subject to confirmation of reciprocity).

The following categories coming from third-countries can also enter Lithuania:

  • Diplomats and members of their families and their support staff
  • Members of official delegations
  • Persons serving in NATO and NATO military units and their personnel and their families
  • Crew and crew members working in Lithuanian companies engaged in international commercial transport or performing international commercial transport in any type of vehicle
  • Health care professionals coming to the Republic of Lithuania to provide health care services
  • Artists coming with the permission of the Minister of Culture to participate in professional art events and the staff serving them
  • Journalists arriving with the permission of the Minister of Foreign Affairs
  • Highly skilled athletes, sports and physical activity specialists, instructors and their family members with the permission of the Minister of Education, Science and Sports
  • Persons in transit through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania
  • Seafarers
  • Beneficiaries of facilitated transit of persons from the territory of the Russian Federation to the Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation and back.

General required documents for a Lithuanian Visa Application:

  • Firstly, download the application form, fill it completely and with sincerity. You can also fill the Lithuania Schengen Visa application form electronically and then print a hard-copy.
  • 2 photos must be attached; the photo should be of passport format – a recent whole-face capture with a light background. Learn more about visa photo requirements and specifications.
  • Your passport and copies of your previous visas – valid for at least 3 months beyond return date – are required. Your passport must have at least two blank pages.
  • A copy of your return-ticket reservation. It is not recommended to purchase the ticket before obtaining the visa – if not otherwise required
  • Europe travel medical insurance confirmation of minimum 30,000 € coverage within Lithuania and the entire Schengen area
  • A cover letter stating the purpose of visit to Lithuania and itinerary

  • Proof of civil status (marriage certificate, birth certificate of children, death certificate of spouse, ration card if applicable)
  • Means of subsistence – Proof of sufficient financial means for the period of stay in Lithuania. A foreign national who wants to enter the territory of the Republic of Lithuania, while applying for a Lithuanian Visa it needs to attest to the Lithuanian Embassy or Consulate possession of 40€/day.

  • Employment contract
  • Current bank statement of the latest 6 months
  • No-objection certificate from employer
  • Income Tax Return (ITR) form or Certificate of Income Tax deducted at the source of salary

If self-employed:

  • A copy of your business license
  • Company bank statement of the latest 6 months
  • Income Tax Return (ITR)

If a student:

If retired:

  • Pension statement of the latest 6 months

If applicable:

  • Regular income generated by property proof of the latest 6 months

*Note: The signed application form must be accompanied the rest of the above-mentioned mandatory documents and handed personally at the appropriate embassy/consulate or its representative in your home country.
