Japanese Summer Break

I work part-time this summer. I had a schedule from May. Everyday morning, we wake up earliest at 4:30. Every day, we do cleaning at my aunt’s company office. We had to understand how to take care of plants in the office and how to organize documents. That was good for my study and i learned something about office stuffs. It was the first time i cleaned an office building, but it was fun!

The Yaeyama Islands are an archipelago in the southernmost area of Japan’s Ryukyu Islands (a chain of Japanese islands). The archipelago is located approximately 500 miles south of Tokyo. The Yaeyamas consist of islands, coral reefs, and a few upland areas. The Yaeyama Islands have a tropical climate. They are highly susceptible to natural disasters, with 15 typhoons each year and heavy rainfall due to their position near the Intertropical Convergence Zone and their low elevation.

Hi, I have just finished summer semester and will now be preparing for exams for the Autumn semester. All through the summer I got to go on a bunch of exciting trips. I thought writing a post about them may be interesting. One of my favorite things about Japan is that one day you can wake up and decide you want to go visit another city or prefecture, or even another country or continent. You can choose to go on a day trip or anything in between.

I’ve been to Japan a handful of times, and spent an extended period of time there during my study abroad semester in college. Since then I’ve also made several other trips there on vacation. If you’re planning to visit Japan sometime soon or if you already have a few trips under your belt, here are 10 tips to make your trip better.

It’s the middle of summer and I’m sitting on my porch in a Japanese gift shop. I swear, it’s not a dream; I just took the bullet train (Shinkansen) from Tokyo, known throughout Japan as “The Land of the Rising Sun”.

Everything about a Japanese summer break is pleasant and cheerful. There is nothing like watching Tokyoites (especially those who live in apartments) enjoy some quality time at the small man-made ponds scattered around Tokyo. Going for a dip, swimming or just soaking your feet in, seems to be very popular among the locals. There is even a Japanese saying which says “Kan ni yoi” meaning “there is nothing better than hot water”.

Hello fellow Japanese learners! I am very excited to share with you my experiences of living abroad in Japan during my summer break period (which is relatively short) as a high school student. Akihabara, Tsukiji, and the Gundam café are just a few of the sites I will be visiting during my break. If you don’t already know, I live in Osaka, Japan – which is the food capital of Japan.

The Japanese school year begins in April. The first term runs to around July 20, when summer vacation begins. Kids return to school in early September for the second term, which lasts until about December 25. The final term begins in early January and continues to late March.

Summer vacation at most Japanese public elementary and middle schools now starts on Marine Day on July 20 and usually lasts for around six weeks through the end of August.

The second term of the school year, which includes such big events as field day and the school festival, comes to an end in December. In most Japanese middle schools, finals begin toward the end of November and are usually held over three days, covering nine subjects: English, math, Japanese, science, social studies, physical education, home economics, music, and art.

Public elementary and middle schools are closed on national holidays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Japanese schools have three semesters, separated by vacations.
