A working visa is required to live and work in Japan. If you are a citizen of the following countries, then a working visa is available to you: Chile (restricted), Brunei, Peru, Malaysia and Indonesia. Citizens of these countries may apply for a working visa after being offered an employment contract from a Japanese employer. A holder of this type of visa is called an “entrant for employment”, which is also called an “employment visa”.    

In general, when you are planning to bring your family over to live or work in Japan, you must meet the following requirements: 1) You, the spouse and children are Japanese nationals; 2) You have a certificate of eligibility,(COE).

The Japanese Embassy in the Philippines is situated in Manila. The “Treaty of Peace with Japan” and “Reparations Agreement Between Japan and the Republic of the Philippines” became effective in July 1956.

The relationship between Japan and the Philippines date back to the Muromachi period of Japanese history around the 16th century. Though relationship between the two nations hasn’t always been smooth, the relationship has strengthen in recent years.

Nationals of the Philippines who wish to obtain a visa to Japan can either go to the Japanese Embassy in Manila or can also take their documentation to a consular office either in Cebu or Davao.

In addition to Japan’s embassy in Manila, Japan has two other representations in the Philippines. These include a consulate in Cebu City and a consulate in Davao City.
