Jackson Hole Summer Vacation Packages

Hi! I’m Katie and I’ll be your guide for this week in the beautiful Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We’ll discuss the attractions, events, and restaurants that we recommend you to visit during your summer vacation. You won’t want to miss out on a single one of them!

We are heading to Jackson Hole (JH) for our annual summer vacation. We’ve been going there for the last four years for a family vacation in early June. A lot of people got their vacation down to a science with their kids and know the most optimal weeks of the summer to go. However, I tend to not follow that advice at all. This is because we try and go earlier or later than people say they are, just so we have fewer families in line with us and spend less money. Right now it’s our first week of June, and everyone says no one travels this time of year unless you’re “some billionaire who owns an international chain of hotels”. Well, I don’t consider myself as a billionaire (my bank account doesn’t agree though), but I do definitely fall into the category of “owning an international chain of hotels”, which means I am by default like any other idiot who is on my way here with his wife and kids.

Attention, Jackson Hole Vacationers!! If you’re ready to enjoy the summer to its fullest, I’ve got a must-read for you!

Jackson Hole is one of my favorite places. I always look forward to the summer, because that brings with it one of my favorite vacations: Jackson Hole. The scenery, the culture, and the people are a great experience to be part of. Over the years, I’ve written a number of blogs about my experience in Jackson Hole. I had always intended for those blogs to stand alone and will link them here for quick access, but figured I’d also make a post that would have all of them listed together for easy binging. Hopefully this will help you decide if you’d like to visit Jackson Hole!

Whether you’re there for a work conference, or it’s your yearly vacation to the Tetons, Jackson Hole has a lot of activities that would make summer more exciting than just lying in your lounge chair down at the pool, or taking another day off from work.

Sarah and I recently decided to meet for a break in the midst of our busy schedules. We were lucky enough to visit Jackson Hole, Wyoming from July 29th-August 5th. Below are a few pictures from the trip.

Families looking to spend quality time together won’t run out of things to do with Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park just down the road. Bring your loved ones out for a guided horseback tour or go whitewater rafting on the Snake River. The possibilities are truly endless when you visit Jackson Hole, so we narrowed down the top five ways to get your summer vacation started.

1. Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone National Park is home to more than 2.2 million acres, so it’s safe to say there is plenty to do when you visit this monumental site. If you are only in town for a few days and don’t know where to start, experienced guides are available to lead you through the must-sees of the park. Set aside some time to visit and learn about the most famous park landmarks including Old Faithful, Grand Prismatic Springs, The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, and Mammoth Hot Springs.

The park is also at the core of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, one of the largest intact temperate-zone ecosystems remaining on the planet. This means wildlife of many kinds reside in the area. Visitors may spot grizzly bears, wolves, bison, elk, moose, goats, eagles, lions, and more as they drive through Yellowstone.

There are countless family-friendly activities here. It was tough for us to choose our favorites, but these amazing, adventure-filled activities are perfect for kids, teens, and adults alike.

Have an Adventure to Old Faithful

Did you know that just outside of Jackson Hole is one of the most geothermically active areas in the world? Explore the iconic Yellowstone National Park with us and watch the most reliable geyser in the world shoot up into the air at Old Faithful. Our tour includes a short walk along the boardwalk (perfect for any age) to a breathtaking aerial view of the world’s largest hot spring, along with wildlife viewing, wandering the various geysers and pool, and even a special picnic lunch. Let us do the organizing while you and your family sit back and enjoy the sights of Yellowstone National Park.

Stargaze with an Astronomy Night

Without the bright lights of a nearby big city, we have some of the best stargazing in the United States. We’ve teamed up with Wyoming Stargazings Dr. Samuel Singer to get an up-close look at the stars with his collection of telescopes. Depending on the time of year we can view different galaxies, shooting stars, northern lights and more! Come learn about astronomy and get an exclusive look at the stary skies.

Alpine Adventures for Everyone

Jackson’s summer resorts make great day destinations for family fun. Make your way through the Amaze’n Maze or tackle a treetop obstacle course at Snow King, where kids will also love the Alpine Slide and Summer Cowboy Coaster. Family-friendly activities at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort include disc golf, an aerial adventure course, hiking and more.

Catch the Best of Jackson’s National Parks

We offer two trips to discover the best of both Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park. Each tour discovers a different park. Let us handle the logistics while you sit back and enjoy sparkling waterfalls, geyser eruptions and wildlife viewing in Yellowstone. Or enjoy an adventure at Grand Teton National Park. We take you to a few local hot spots to enjoy dramatic mountain views without the crowds. Learn about the unique geology, cultural history, and wildlife that calls the Jackson area home. Both park tours are hosted by our expert Naturalist guides who can’t wait to show you their favorite parts of these national icons.

Spot Wildlife with a Dawn and Dusk Safari

Our Naturalist guides know where to find the abundant wildlife and the animals around Jackson are most active at dawn or dusk. A shorter offering than our day trips, these four-hour wildlife excursions are a perfect opportunity for kids, photographers, and animal enthusiasts. You’ll not only spot wildlife but learn about the unique history of the Jackson Hole area.

Experience the Old West with the Town Square Shootout

During the western heyday, it wasn’t uncommon to settle disputes with an old fashioned square off in the center of town. The legend started with Clover the Killer, challenging everyone he came across. Today, the tradition lives on with a shootout re-enactment (no real guns are used of course). At 6 pm every day but Sundays at Town Square you can watch the gunfight and get a taste of life in the wild west.

Float Down the Snake River

Our Snake River scenic float trips are a must-do for those who are looking to make a splash. These river trips are family-friendly and suitable for younger children. The Snake River winds its way through the Jackson Hole Valley. Beautiful mountain scenery greets you around every bend. Be sure to bring your camera for this float, as there are plenty of picture-perfect moments and opportunities to spot wildlife.

Take a Stagecoach Ride

Between Memorial Day to Labor Day, you can tour downtown in a horse-drawn stagecoach, just like western travelers have for centuries. Take a leisurely cruise through the historic downtown Jackson and see the sites in a new way. The ride lasts around 10 minutes, afterward, you can grab a scoop of ice cream at Moos!

Be a Cowboy or Cowgirl for a Day on a Scenic Horseback Ride

Get in touch with your western side by embarking on a family-friendly horseback ride. We’ll take you on a western-style ride and marvel at incredible Teton views that you won’t get from any of the other outfitters in town. Enjoy the sensation of sitting in the saddle and taking in the sites just as the cowboys have done for over a century. We offer both one and two-hour trail rides perfect for younger kids, teens, and families alike.

With endless opportunities for adventure and discovery, it’s no wonder that Jackson is the premier place for a family-friendly outdoor adventure.
