How To Pack For A Summer Vacation

Packing for a summer vacation is definitely one of my favorite things to do – I love to travel and discover new places. But planning a getaway trip always can be a daunting task, especially if you have no idea how to pack for a summer vacation.

Do you struggle with what to pack for a summer vacation? If you’re anything like me, packing for a trip takes forever! I’m pretty sure the reason is because I get overwhelmed with what to pack. Do I need shorts? A swimsuit? Flip Flops? When I think about needing to plan everything out, it makes me want to throw in the towel.

The first rule of packing is to only pack half the amount of clothes you think you’ll need! You want to be comfortable on vacation, and that means having enough room for all those experiences you’ve been looking forward to. The second rule is to roll your clothes (figuratively)! What does rolling have to do with packing for a vacation? Well, casual clothes often get wrinkled when packed in bags. You want your clothes to be wrinkle free in order to look sharp, feel good and look neat. The third rule of packing is don’t forget the sunscreen! If you’re going with family or friends on a beach vacation, make sure you bring plenty of sunscreen so you can all enjoy the sun without damaging your skin.

With summer right around the corner, planning a summer vacation offers a glimmer of hope for many Americans. Whether you plan to vacation close to home, explore the outdoors or travel abroad, packing your bags will be the first order of business.

And packing strategically means less stress and more fun while you’re away.

From desert air to salty shores and every travel destination in between, having these 10 summer vacation must-haves on hand will put the easy living in your summer vacation.

1. Vacation Reads

Cracking open the cover and burying your nose in a good book is a favorite vacation pastime for many travelers. Read A Travel Lovers Book List before you embark on your next literary adventure, or ask your friends if you can borrow their favorite page-turners.

2. New Socks

Even if you’re traveling to a warm-weather destination this summer, nights can be chilly. According to the National Sleep Foundation, wearing lightweight socks to bed can help you fall asleep faster.

3. Hats and Sunglasses

Wide-brimmed, floppy, baseball — whatever your style, pack a hat in your carry-on bag so it doesn’t get crushed. Better yet, wear it during your journey, and don’t forget your shades. You’ll need them while you’re lounging poolside.

4. A Spare Bathing Suit — Or two

One of the many benefits of Hilton Grand Vacations timeshare is that many properties and suites are fully equipped with amenities like private laundry facilities so you can wash and dry clothing at your leisure. Still, it’s always good to have a few extras on hand.

5. Hydrating Mist

Taking a vacation is all about feeling refreshed. Why not take that literally? All that time outside in the sunshine or salty sea air can dry you out. Try the Evian Travel Trio TSA-approved bottles to keep your skin hydrated.

6. Zinc-Based Sunscreen

No matter where you’re headed, protecting your skin is wise. However, for travelers planning a trip to Hawaiizinc-based sunscreen is a must — not just for your skin health but also the health of the region’s coral reefs. Considering stocking up on your favorites before arriving in the islands.

7. Dry Shampoo

Skip your daily wash and blow-dry, even if you’ve been at the beach or pool, by packing some dry shampoo to give your mane a clean boost until you get the chance to hit the shower again.

8. Eye Drops

If you’re a frequent eye-drops user, you’ll want to toss a bottle in your toiletry bag. Flights, hotel air conditioning and hot desert air, can all lead to dry, itchy red eyes. Eye drops soothe allergies and add moisture so you can soak up the sights in full view.

9. Hand Sanitizer and Baby Wipes

Even if you’re traveling without kids in tow, wet wipes are great to have on hand. Wiping down dirty tables at the beach, spills and sticky fingers are all jobs for wipes. If you aren’t near a place to wash your hands, pocket hand sanitizer can also come to the rescue.

However, one place you won’t need your wipes is at Hilton Grand Vacations’ resorts and properties. Our participation in Hilton CleanStay™ includes elevated housekeeping and hygiene standards. Owners and Guests also have access to items like face coverings and sanitizing wipes.

10. Reusable Water Bottle

Pack a reusable bottle in your carry-on to stay hydrated on the go. Bring it to the beach, on hikes or to your favorite theme parks.

Bottles like Hydro Flask can stay cold (or warm) for hours and are much more cost-effective than buying throwaway plastic bottles every time you get thirsty.
