Reminder: Changing Time Off Requests in Workday

In light of COVID-19, employees cancelling scheduled vacations, sick leave, and other approved leave should change their time off in Workday per the usual process.

If a request for time off has already been approved, use this workflow to cancel or amend it:

  • Navigate to the “Time Off” worklet on the Workday homepage
  • Click on “Time Off Correction” under the request tab
  • Click on the approved time off request on the calendar and select the day(s) you want to correct
  • To remove a day, click on the “remove” icon in the pop-up
  • Click Submit, and then Done
  • You will receive a confirmation notification when the request has been approved by your supervisor
  • The cancelled leave will automatically re-populate in your accrued time off

If a request has been submitted but not approved, use this workflow to cancel it:

  • In Workday, navigate to your inbox
  • Click on the “Archive” tab
  • Select the time off request you want to modify
  • Click on “Cancel”
    • You must enter a comment with the reasoning behind your cancellation
  • Click on “Submit”
    • There is no approval required 

Annual leave

All full-time employees have 27 days of annual leave per year. Part-time and fixed-term employees’ annual leave is prorated from 27 days.

You may carry over up to five days to be used by 31 March of the following year.

Sick leave

Once you have passed your probationary period, you receive 30 days of paid sick leave each year. Additional days of sick leave are unpaid.

Workday will continue your pay while you perform your civic duty.

Take your time

All time-off requests must be submitted via Workday. You can also view your time-off balances and see an overview of your time-off history.

How to request time away

  1. Log in to Workday, select the Time Off icon or go to Actions in your profile, and find Time and Leave.
  2. Select Request Time off, select the Type you need from the list, and fill in the details.
  3. Click Submit, and a Workday notification will be sent to your manager for approval.

Some types of time off need to be initiated in Workday by your manager or People & Purpose, and you will not be able to find them on your list of leave options. In these cases, contact your manager with your request, or submit a People Guide request.
