Interview Waiver

Some applicants of business/tourism visas (B1/B2) may apply for renewal of their visa through the authorized courier via the Interview Waiver. The Interview Waiver can take an estimated  TWELVE (12) weeks to complete.

Requirements for minors under the age of 14

Applications via the Interview Waiver may take up to TWELVE (12) weeks.   

Minors under the age of 14 may be eligible to apply for a tourist visa (B1/B2) by mail through the Interview Waiver if they are able to answer YES for EACH of the following statements. :

• My parent has a B1/B2 visa, valid for 10 years. Yes__ No__
• My father or mother’s visa is without special annotations. Yes__ No__
• My visa has never been revoked, canceled, lost, damaged or stolen. Yes__ No__
• My parent’s visa has never been revoked, canceled, lost, damaged or stolen. Yes__ No__
• My father/mother is a citizen or legal resident of Panama. Yes__ No__
• Neither my parents nor I have resided illegally in the United States nor have we violated any laws in the United States.    Yes__ No__ 

Please include the following MANDATORY documents in the envelope for EACH applicant for delivery to the U.S. Embassy via Fletes Chavale (Fletes Chavale Location):

• Valid passport.
• Previous passport with a valid or recently expired visa (only necessary if the minor had a previous visa).
• Original birth certificate.
• Copy of valid visa of my father and mother.
• Copy of legal residence of father and mother if they are foreigners.
• Copy of residence if you are a foreigner.
• 2 photos 2 “X 2” passport type, with white background, taken with the last 6 months. (Photo requirements)
• Printed Confirmation Letter attached to the envelope.
• Printed Confirmation Letter included inside the envelope.
• Visa processing payment receipt 160 PAB.

Requirements for adults over the age of 80

Applications via the Interview Waiver may take up to TWELVE (12) weeks.   

Adults 80 years of age and above may be eligible to apply for a business/tourism visa (B1/B2) by mail through the Interview Waiver if they are able to answer YES for EACH of the following statements. :

• I have never resided in the US illegally or violated any US law. Yes__ No__

For people with previous visa only: 

• My last visa was issued in Panama. Yes__ No__
• My last visa is without special annotations. Yes__ No__
• My visa has never been revoked, canceled, lost, stolen or damaged. Yes__ No__

Please include the following MANDATORY documents in the envelope for EACH applicant for delivery to the U.S. Embassy via Fletes Chavale (Fletes Chavale locations):

• Valid passport.
• Previous passport with valid or recently expired visa (Only if you have had a previous visa)
• For foreigners, copy of Panamanian residence.
• DS-160 application confirmation sheet.
• 2 photos 2 “X 2” passport type, with white background, taken in the last 6 months. (Photo requirements)
• Confirmation letter printed and attached to the envelope.
• Visa processing payment receipt 160 PAB.

A: Every traveler, regardless of age, needs a visa to travel to the United States.

Q: Do minor children pay the same application fee as adults?

A: Yes, the visa application fee is the same amount for minors and adults.

Q: Do I have to schedule a separate appointment for my minor child?  

A: Yes, every applicant requires an appointment.

Q: Do minor children have to attend the visa interview in person?

A: All minors are required to attend the visa interview in person with the exception of children under the age of 13 bearing Panamanian passports. The minor applicant’s parent or legal guardian must attend the interview in the child’s place. Children 14 and older must attend their interviews in person and provide fingerprints. 

Q: Are parents of minor children required to attend the visa interview? 

A: At least one parent or legal guardian of the minor applicant must attend the interview. The responsible adult must present the applicant’s original passport and birth certificate along with his/her own valid passport with valid or expired U.S. visas. Even when neither parent intends to travel with the minor, the adult must provide evidence of the family’s long-term economic, personal, social, and academic ties to the home country. That is, evidence of circumstances that would compel the applicant to return to their home country after a short visit to the United States. Note that legal guardians must provide evidence of custody over the child.
