Extension Of Winter Vacation In Kashmir

Extension of winter vacation in Kashmir would affect more than two lakh students who have applied for the pre-winter (Sub-Admission) camp, which began on Tuesday in educational institutions across Srinagar. Students have complained that extension of winter vacation would delay their examinations and result in them taking admission in various colleges across India.

The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday extended the winter vacation in all schools of the valley for two days in the wake of rush of patients in the hospitals due to breathing difficulties, chest congestion and mainly because of low visibility. The decision to extend the December vacation was taken by an emergency meeting of the state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.Students grumbled that the local government was ill-prepared to accommodate them in schools. They complained that they should be schooled till January. “This brings the vacation period to a total of 56 days, enough time for us to prepare for annual examinations and other things,” an official said.

Extension Of Winter Vacation In Kashmir

The Jammu and Kashmir government Tuesday announced winter holidays for schools falling in the summer zone areas of Jammu division from December 24.

As per the order, all government educational institutions and recognised private schools up to higher secondary level falling in the summer zones of Jammu division shall observe winter vacation from December 24 to January 2, 2022.

The government had last week announced vacation for all government and private accredited schools in Kashmir and in winter zones of Jammu from December 6 to February 28 for classes up to VIII. Winter vacations for Class IX to XII will be from December 13 to February 28, the order said.

The divisional administration on Friday extended the wintervacation of schools and colleges in Kashmir till March 10.

An official said the decision to extend the winter vacationhas been taken in view of the prevailing inclement weather in Kashmir.

“The class work in all schools upto higher secondaryand degree colleges of Kashmir will now resume from March 11 (Monday),”the official said.

Earlier, the class work in schools and colleges was supposedto resume on March 05 post winter vacations.

Earlier on December 31, the Department for Schools Education, Balochistan had extended the duration for winter vacation owing to an increase in the coldness.

According to a notification, the schools across cold areas of Balochistan would reopen on January 10, 2020, instead of January 1.

According to Director Schools Balochistan, the vacations had been extended in cold areas of province due to the increase in coldness.

Moreover, the Department for Schools Education had extended the duration for winter vacation owing to an increase in the cold in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to a notification, the schools across KPK would reopen on January 7, 2020, instead of January 1.
