IMPORTANT INFORMATION :

As of 31 October 2019, visa applicant for Non-Immigrant Visa “O-A” (for retirement long stay) must have health insurance which covers the whole period of stay in Thailand.

Details of the requirement for health insurance are as follows:

  • For In-patient: health insurance policy must have coverage at least 400,000 Thai Baht per policy year.
  • For Out-patient: health insurance policy must have coverage at least 40,000 Thai Baht per policy year.

In addition to the existing required documents, visa applicant for Non-Immigrant Visa “O-A” (for retirement long stay) must furnish a completed “Insurance Certificate” as attached, as well as an original health insurance policy. A copy of the health insurance policy may only be accepted, provided that the applicant purchases the health insurance from participating Thai insurance companies as listed here http://longstay.tgia.org/.

–   Australian passport holders are not required to obtain a visa when entering Thailand for tourism purposes and will be permitted to stay in Thailand for a period not exceeding 30 days on each visit. However, entering Thailand without visa through land border check-points is restricted to only twice per calendar year.

–  All non-Australian citizens are required to show proof of valid Australian Permanent Resident or Temporary Resident visa (e.g. Student, Temporary Working Skills, Work and Holiday, Partner visa).

   Applicants bearing no Australian visa (i.e. eligible to enter Australia for tourism purpose on a visa exemption scheme) or bearing Visitor (Subclass 600) visa will not be eligible to apply for any category of non-immigrant or other semi-permanent visa to Thailand.  The said applicants are eligible to apply only Transit or Tourist visa to Thailand.

    For Nigerian nationalities and passport holders, Certificate of Clearance from NDLEA and authenticated by The Ministry of Foreign Affair of Nigeria and Royal Thai Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria is required

The Royal Thai Government has launched the “Online Application for Visa on Arrival” (VoA) service to facilitate passport holders that are eligible to apply for visas at the immigration checkpoints on arrival for the purpose of tourism.  Only passengers arriving in Thailand via Suvarnabhumi Airport can apply for the Visa on Arrival online prior to arrival in Thailand.
