Indonesian government is implementing a new regulation on foreign workers in Indonesia that involves cost of work permit. It has been done to protect the local workers and to increase Indonesian economy’s competitiveness.

Living in Indonesia is possible if you have a work permit, but you need to apply for it first. A work permit is essentially your legal proof that allows you to live and work in any part of Indonesia. If you’re already in the country, things are easier and can be done locally. However, if you’re outside the country and planning to move there, then things get a lot more complicated.

Cost Of Work Permit In Indonesia

KITAS (Temporary Stay Permit) and Work Permit Package

Every expatriate requires KITAS (Temporary Stay Permit) and work permit in order to stay and work in Indonesia. KITAS and Work Permit are valid for maximum 1 year and can be extended if required. The cost of this package is IDR 10.000.000 and it involves handling of following documents:

  • Foreign Worker Placement Plan (RPTKA)
  • Work Permit (Notifikasi)
  • Approval Visa (Telex)
  • KITAS Card + MERP (Multiple Exit Re-entry Permit)
  • STM (Police Report)
  • SKTT (Civil Registry Reporting)
  • Laporan Keberadaan Tenaga Kerja Asing (Foreign Worker Existence Report)

Notes:

  • Additional Expenses:
  1. USD 1200 – Worker Levy (DPKK) which will directly be paid to Manpower Department by sponsor company. (USD 100/Month, for 12 Month work Permit will be paid in advance to Manpower Dept.). Paid for each extension. (Government Fee)
  2. USD 150 – Visa Fee of to stamp the visa in overseas Indonesian Embassy. This fee must be paid in Indonesia before Approval Visa (Telex). Paid only for new KITAS and not for extension. (Government Fee)
  • The above cost is associated with Jakarta area. Additional charges may occur in case the process is done outside Jakarta.
Dependent KITAS (Temporary Stay Permit) Package

Any dependent (Spouse or Children under the age of 17 years) who are moving with KITAS holder to Indonesia, must obtain the KITAS for themselves. The cost of this package is IDR 8.000.000 and it involves the handling of following documents:

  • Approval Visa (Telex)
  • KITAS Card + MERP (Multiple Exit Re-entry Permit)
  • STM (Police Report)
  • SKTT (Civil Registry Reporting)

KITAS Sponsored by Indonesian Spouse

Foreigners who are legally married to Indonesian citizen are eligible to get KITAS sponsored by Indonesian spouse. The cost of this package is IDR 8.000.000 and it involves the handling of following documents:

  • Approval Visa (Telex)
  • KITAS Card + MERP (Multiple Exit Re-entry Permit)
  • STM (Police Report)
  • SKTT (Civil Registry Reporting)

  • The above cost does not include the embassy fee to stamp the visa in overseas Indonesian Embassy.
  • The above cost is associated with Jakarta area. Additional charges may occur in case the process is done outside Jakarta.
Business Visa Package

This visa is specially designed for people who wish to participate in normal business activities (including attending a business meeting, conference/seminar, business transaction etc.) in Indonesia and does not involve taking up employment or receiving any payments. This visa requires a prior sponsorship from an Indonesian based company. This visa may be Single or Multiple Entry. The cost of Business Visa package is:

  • Single/Multiple Entry Business Visa          IDR 1.750.000

It involves handling of Approval visa (Telex) which will be sent to the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate overseas where applicant intended to stamp the visa.

Social Visa Package

This Visa is issued for the applicants who are going to Indonesia for Social/Cultural visit, such as visiting relatives/friends; social organisations; exchange between educational institutions etc. This visa requires prior sponsorship from an Indonesian Citizen. This visa may be Single or Multiple Entry. The cost of Social visa package is:

  • Single/Multiple Entry Social Visa             IDR 1.750.000

It involves handling of Approval visa (Telex) which will be sent to the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate overseas where applicant intended to stamp the visa.

  • The above Cost does not include the embassy fee to stamp the visa in overseas Indonesian Embassy.
Visa on Arrival (VOA) Extension

The maximum stay permitted for Visa on Arrival is 30 days, but now it is possible to extend it for another 30 days without leaving the country. The extension of VOA requires sponsorship from an Indonesian Citizen. The extension cost is IDR 1.550.000 and will take 5-6 working days for extension process to be done.

Permanent Stay Permit (KITAP) Package

Permanent Stay Permit (KITAP) is transfer of status from Temporary Stay Permit (KITAS). Foreign Investors holing KITAS can apply for a Permanent Stay Permit (KITAP) after living in Indonesia for at least 4 consecutive years. As for foreigners married to Indonesian citizens, they can apply for Permanent Stay Permit (KITAP) after 2 years of marriage and one 1 KITAS sponsored by spouse. Retirement Visa Package

Foreign Pensioners over the age of 55 are eligible to spend their retirement in some of recognised tourist areas in Indonesia (Bali and certain areas in Java) with a retirement visa. The cost of this package is IDR14.500.000 and involves handling of following documents:

  • Sponsorship from a registered travel company
  • Approval Visa (Telex)
  • KITAS Card + MERP (Multiple Exit Re-entry Permit)
