Clifford Chance Summer Vacation Scheme

Clifford Chance Summer Vacation Scheme (CSCVS) is a programme that provides law students with the opportunity to work within a variety of different legal roles. The scheme runs from late May until early August, and is open to students who have completed their final year at university.

The scheme offers students the chance to develop their professional skills in a range of areas including finance, real estate and construction, corporate, litigation and dispute resolution, public law, intellectual property and technology & regulatory. Participants will also gain invaluable insights into how Clifford Chance operates as an international firm with offices around the world.

Participants are given a comprehensive induction programme on arrival at Clifford Chance’s London office where they will join their designated team members who will provide them with guidance and support throughout the summer vacation period. The participants’ main responsibility during this time is to assist in the day-to-day running of the business by performing administrative tasks such as filing documents, making travel arrangements for clients etc.. They will also have the opportunity to attend client meetings where they can observe how lawyers operate in practice and gain valuable insights into how our firm operates on a day-to-day basis.

You will need to exhibit ambition, drive and commitment as well as strong interpersonal skills and commerciality. In addition to these attributes we ask that applicants meet the following requirements:

  • A consistently strong academic record.
  • The ability to speak Mandarin or a Chinese dialect, and to read and write Chinese is preferable.
  • A law or combined degree from a university in Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Canada or England which will enable you to begin a Hong Kong training contract when you have completed the Post Graduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL)*. Applications from non-law graduates who have taken the Graduate Diploma in Law (Common Professional Examination) are also welcome.
