Christmas vacation in greece

There are many destinations to choose from for a Christmas vacation in Greece, but my favorite is the island of Skiathos. Skiathos is located in the north-east of Greece, very close to Thessaloniki making it an easy destination for those visiting from northern Europe. It’s close enough that you can enjoy a long weekend getaway or easily fit it into your Christmas vacation plans.

Vacations are a great way to spoil yourself, or surprise your loved ones. A lot of times we forget our special occasion is approaching until the last moment and run around with our heads cut off looking for that perfect gift.

Christmas vacation in Greece is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the holiday season with your family.

With Christmas approaching, many people are looking for something new and exciting to do with their families and friends. While traditional Christmas movies are always enjoyable, there are other options that can help you make this year’s holiday even more memorable. Consider a trip to Greece!

Greece is one of the most beautiful countries in all of Europe, which makes it an excellent place for a vacation at any time of year. However, if you want something truly special for your family this year, consider taking them on a Christmas vacation in Greece where they will be able to experience some truly unique traditions that they may not encounter anywhere else in Europe.

The Christmas season is a time for celebration and joy, but if you’re looking to get away from it all, why not spend your holiday in Greece?

With its beautiful sunrises and sunsets over the Aegean Sea, Greece is an ideal place for a little escape from the holiday hustle. While there are plenty of fun things to do around Athens during the holidays—including attending a parade that features Santa Claus riding on a camel—you can also find plenty of quieter pursuits.

If you’re planning on spending your Christmas vacation in Greece, here’s some advice:

-Don’t forget to take a selfie with Santa Claus! You can find him at many different events around Athens during the holidays.

-Enjoy some traditional Greek music while you’re there! It’s an essential part of any holiday celebration in Greece.

-And don’t forget about all those delicious Greek foods! They’ll remind you of home even though you’re far away from it

Traditions and customs are a very crucial part of the everyday lives to Greeks. Greeks believe that goblins/bad spirits or kallikantzaroi as they call them, appear during the 12- day celebrations of Christmas until the day they observe Epiphany which generally falls on January 6th. They are believed to enter the house through chimneys. Hence, the Greeks burn the Yule log, which is nothing but a huge log set that is burned all through the 12- day period of Christmas. On the Epiphany, the sprinkle of the blessed waters by the local priest closes the doors for the visit of the kallikantzaroi until next year. Epiphany is celebrated with equal warmth as Christmas where young men swim through the cold waters of Greece to retrieve the cross that the priest had threw into the waters. Whoever retrieves it is believed to enjoy good luck for the rest of the year.

Greek Christmas is a traditional holiday and thus not much of western style of decorations can be seen around in the houses. Instead of the shiny bright ornaments and lights dangling from the Christmas trees, traditional Greeks dangle a cross covered with a sprig of basil leaves. A shallow bowl is attached to it with some water to keep the basil fresh and a member from the family sprinkles water from that bowl all around the house once a day to drive away bad spirits. Apart from this, Greeks hang pomegranate and kremmeda over the front door of their homes. The dried fruit is then thrown on the ground and stomp their foot on it until it breaks and then enter the house which signifies prosperity and good luck.
