ITINERARY

Day 1 – Tuesday, December 22

Welcome to Anchorage! Experience true Alaskan hospitality at this downtown boutique hotel. The cozy inn is within easy walking distance to activities and attractions downtown Anchorage as well as some of our favorite eateries! This evening set out to search for the aurora borealis on a night tour guided by local photographer. This tour is designed to help you enjoy the magic and mystery of the northern lights. Whether you want to learn how to photograph it, or simply enjoy viewing it, this tour is a great way to experience Alaska in the Winter.

Day 2 – Wednesday, December 23

Bundle up & let’s go sledding in Anchorage’s backyard! Sleds and hot drinks included. As the sun sets on our sledding adventures, enjoy an evening driving tour to look at the Christmas lights, a time-honored tradition for many Alaskans. Tonight, set out with your local photographer guide to search for the illlusive aurora borealis and marvel at the big Alaska night sky!

Day 3 – Thursday, December 24

Today is yours to enjoy at your leisure. Take advantage of visiting the Anchorage Museum with your included admission tickets; the museum will be open from 10am – 4pm. Stay in to decorate your tree today and be sure hang your stockings by the fireplace with care in hopes that Saint Nicholas will come this eve. Take in a show at Anchorage’s Performing Arts Center – in years past they have had a Christmas Carol playing on Christmas Eve at 4pm! Tonight while on tour, we search for the northern lights again. Each night’s destination will vary according to conditions, but the aurora tour usually travels within a 70-mile radius and visits 1 to 3 locations.

Day 4 – Friday, December 25

Today, curl up to the fire, read the Christmas Story, and enjoy the quiet winter setting. Visit the impressive Gingerbread Village at the Hotel Captain Cook and consider Christmas dinner reservations at the Crow’s Nest Restaurant. Tonight, if conditions are favorable, you will stay up late with your aurora guide, not only looking for the northern lights and sharing your favorite constellations, but keep an eye out for a jolly man in a sled racing across the sky!

Day 5 – Saturday, December 26

Your local Alaskan guides will take you through the 200-acre natural habitat for a thorough tour of the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. Located on the Turnagain Arm (an All-American Road and National Scenic Byway), the Conversation Center is home to moose, wolves, bald eagles, bison and more iconic Alaska wildlife! Ride the Mt. Alyeska Aerial Tram 2,300 ft up into the Chugach Mountains for views of several alpine glaciers and panoramic views of the Cook Inlet. Lunch included at a locals’ favorite in Girdwood. Upon return into Anchorage, you & your luggage will be dropped at the Anchorage International Airport. Please plan for your flight departures for 6pm or later…
