Chinese Visa In Expired Passport

The General Department of Consular Affairs of China has a regulation policy on the Visa Issuance in expired passport held by the applicants in accordance with the passport they hold now. The applicants are required to submit a proof of a valid passport and visa copy with the expatriation certificate attached and apply for Chinese visa normally at Chinese Embassy/Consulate-General in the country where they currently reside.

When I went to China for the first time seven years ago, I had no clue about what my visa requirements were. I am a US Citizen and had applied for a Schengen Visa (multiple entry, 3 months), assuming that that was all that I needed. The truth is, you still need a visa when you have a valid Schengen Visa in your passport. So, after my three months were up, I was in China illegally, until I was able to get an extension on my visa.  The good news is that it’s easy to get (just go back to where you received your initial Chinese visa). They had me fill out some papers and within two business days I had the paperwork processed and got out into the city

Chinese Visa In Expired Passport

If you are caught in a Chinese airport or on Chinese soil with an expired passport, you might be wondering how to get a new Chinese visa. You may not have taken the proper steps to make sure your passport remains valid and up to date. For most expats who travel frequently from one country to another, this is virtually impossible, especially if you have business requirements for being constantly on the go. Before entering China for the first time, be sure that your passport has at least 6 months of validity remaining and the necessary visas for entry into China.
