I. Visa application for Hong Kong SAR

1. Visa is not required for Indian nationals traveling to Hong Kong for a maximum stay up to 14 days.

2. Applicants of foreign countries which enjoy visa exemption privilege do not require any visa to go to Hong Kong. Please refer to the country list for specific duration of stay free of visa in Hong Kong on Appendix or at the Embassy website (http://in.chineseembassy.org).

3. For applicants who would like to stay in Hong Kong longer than the visa free period allowed, for example, Indians who would like to stay for more than 14 days, or foreigners who do not enjoy visa exemption privilege, visa is required. And the application should be submitted directly to Hong Kong Immigration Department or through the Chinese Embassy in India. Processing of such applications may take 4-6 weeks.

4. To apply for visit visa, the following documents should be provided to the Chinese Embassy or Consulate-General:

(a) Photocopy of passport details and 1 visa application form with 2 photographs.

(b) Supporting documents like financial standing, employment or business certificates, may be required.

(c) For business purpose, covering letter from the applicant’s company or organization and invitation letter from the company, trade fair or international conference in Hong Kong.

(d) For tourist purpose, tourism itinerary and accommodation arrangement in Hong Kong; Personal particulars of relatives or sponsors including names, addresses and telephone numbers.

5. Requirements for applying for visa for education, employment/training is as follows:

A. Education:

1. An application form ID (E) 936, with relevant parts duly completed and signed;

2. A letter of acceptance from the school which the applicant wishes to enter;

3. If the applicant is under the age of 18, one of the applicant’s parents should authorize the sponsor or his relative/friend to be the guardian of the applicant. A consent letter duly signed by both the guardian and one of the applicant’s parents and the guardian should be produced;

4. Evidence of the sponsor’s financial standing, e.g. bank statements, saving account passbook, tax receipts and employment certificates;

5. An undertaking that the sponsor is prepared to arrange accommodation for the applicant or the applicant will be staying with him; or evidence that a place has been provided in recognized boarding school;

6. Evidence of the applicant’s past residence in Hong Kong (if any);

7. Other information/documents in support of the application required by the concerned officer in individual cases.

B. Employment

1. An application form ID (E) 936, with relevant parts duly completed and signed;

2. A copy of the sponsor’s Business Registration Certificate, Certificate of Incorporation and/or Memorandum of Incorporation and Articles of Association;

3. Financial standing of the sponsor/sponsor’s company (income tax return, trading profit and loss account, profit tax return);

4. Company staff list with salary offered and position held and list of expatriate staff previously or currently recruited from overseas;

5. A copy of the applicant’s service contract or letter of appointment with details of post, salaries and benefits;

6. Full description of the applicant’s post;

7. Details, with proofs, of applicant’s academic qualifications and experience relevant to the post, e.g. copies of diplomas, certificates and testimonials;

8. A letter, with supporting proof from the employer (if possible), stating the reason why the post cannot be filled locally;

9. If the applicant is to replace someone already working in Hong Kong, the personal particulars and his whereabouts (if known) should be given;

10. If the applicant is to fill a new post, explain why his/her services are essential;

11. Evidence of the applicant’s past residence in Hong Kong (if any);

12. Other information/documents in support of the application required by the concerned officer in individual cases.

C. Training

1. An application form ID (E) 936, with relevant parts duly completed and signed;

2. A copy of the sponsor’s Business Registration Certificate, Certificate of Incorporation and/or Memorandum of Incorporation and Articles of Association;

3. Financial standing of the sponsor/sponsor’s company (income tax return, trading profit and loss account, profit tax return);

4. Details, with proofs, of applicant’s academic qualifications and experience, e.g. copies of diplomas, certificates and testimonials;

5. A copy of the employment contract or agreement;

6. Details of the training program;

7. An undertaking that the trainee will, in fact, be receiving training in the sponsor’s organization until the end of the agreed period, after which he will return to his own country;

8. Other information/documents in support of the application required by the concerned officer in individual cases.
