Kids can ride the 1.5″ scale train, which travels around the town. Riders are given toy guns to protect themselves from robbers and animals, and give the kids a chance to show off their sharp shooting skills. There are two different options when booking your party here: The Hotel Room, and Salt Gulch Town Area. The hotel lobby is rented by the hour at the rate of $20.00 per hour during the weekdays, and $35.00 per hour on Saturday. The town area is rented by the hour at the rate of $100.00 per hour and is only available during the weekdays. Food and decorations are not included, but you are welcome to bring them with you. Jump Around Utah

We had my son’s seventh birthday party at Jump Around Utah, and it was one of the easiest birthday parties we have ever hosted. When you book your party here, you are given exclusive access to the entire building. I love this because it guarantees that there won’t be any random kids or families enjoying your child’s birthday party. Only people you invite are granted access to the building during your party. 

Prices can be found on their website, but are generally $250 Monday through Thursday, $300 Friday, Sunday and holidays, and $350 on Saturdays. You can bring up to 30 kids, and parents are welcome to come as well. You can bring in any food you like, and they provide all the paper plates, napkins, and plastic ware for your cake and/or ice cream. They even provide electronic invitations to send out.

Natural History Museum of Utah

The newly built Natural History Museum of Utah is a great place for your curious 4-12 year old birthday boy/girl. Choose from three different themes: Dinosaur Detectives, Creepy Crawlers or Mad Lab Party. They provide provide a private decorated room, hands-on activities, goody bags for each child and knowledgeable party hosts, and you provide the refreshments. The price is $225 for your party group of up to 20 child and adult guests, including the birthday child. Two adults per party are required.

The Lion House

Famous for its delicious rolls and homemade food, The Lion House is a great place for your child’s pioneer theme birthday party. This is most suited for children turning 8-10 years old. For two hours, children will be entertained in the historic Lion House on Temple Square in downtown with pioneer games, stories, and an old-fashioned taffy pull. For $195, they provide the invitations, entertainment, goodie bags for all guests as well as a special gift for the birthday child, and a specialized birthday cake served with ice cream for a maximum of 12 guests.

Another great place for a pioneer themed birthday party is This Is The Place Heritage Park. Choose from a Pioneer Tea Party, a Bronco Brunch, Mountain Man Munchies, or almost anything in between. If you have an idea, let them know and they will try to make it happen! For $20 per person (minimum of 10 people) you get Two crafts and a special activity (activities and craft are interchangeable), brunch, train ride, bandanas, gift for the birthday child and a wristband for the Park (seasonal).

Gardner Village

We had my daughter’s birthday party at the Gardner Village a few years ago, and her friends are still talking about it! Because of the variety of services offered here, there are many customizable options to choose from. We rented out the patio of Georgell’s Doll Shop, where the guests ate pizza, opened presents and had Fairy Dust painted on their faces. Because it was October and “witch season”, we had the girls come dressed as witches, but you can also do a tea party theme as well. After eating and opening presents, we had the girls do the Witch Scavenger Hunt and look for witches around the Village. Afterward, we all met back on the patio to eat yummy sugar cookies from Naborhood Bakery, also located at Gardner Village. Other options are bead parties with The Bead Farm, knitting parties at Kamille’s, and cookie making at Naborhood Bakery. Because parties here are ones you put together using your own imagination, you pay for each individual activity you choose to do. We bought items from Georgell’s Doll Shop and Sweet Afton’s Candy to create the goodie bags, but all of the shops have a little something you could purchase.

Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum

The Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum is a favorite place for children of all ages. There are two different packages to choose from: The Bonanza ($225 for 25 kids) or The Bash ($175 for 20 kids). Each package has their own items that are included, and can be found on the Discovery Gateway website.

Microsoft Store

Who would have thought that the Microsoft Store in City Creek Center was a great place to hold a birthday party?! You can rent out their theater (for free!) for an XBox party, a party to learn how to create a video game, and more! You can bring in your own food, and most of it can be conveniently purchased at City Creek Center.
