Best places to stay at in cancun

Cancun is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the world, and it’s easy to see why. With its white-sand beaches and warm waters, it’s a paradise for anyone who wants to relax on their vacation.

There are plenty of great places to stay in Cancun, but there are also some things you should know before booking your next trip.

Here are some of the best places to stay at in Cancun:

1. Zona Hotelera (Cancun Hotel Zone)

One of the best areas to stay in Cancun is Zona Hotelera, which was created for optimal vacation efficiency. The zone is located 20 minutes from Cancun’s city center on a narrow stretch of land. There are many of hotels in this area, as its name suggests. The Hotel Zone offers a wide range of accommodations, including all-inclusive resorts and boutique hotels.

Everything is arranged to maximize your beach vacation. Travelers will have an easy time getting to this part of town as seemingly all roads point to Zona Hotelera. Everyone here is on a holiday, and if they’re not, then they’re working to make your stay in Cancun a memorable one.

Of course, this comes with a lack of local culture and the mass of hotels and multiple restaurants don’t give you a true local experience. But for first-timers, the Hotel Zone is an easy way to start. For those seeking nothing but tropical bliss, white sand beaches, and colorful cocktails, you’ll be well served by this tourist-focused area.

Another strength of Cancun’s Hotel Zone is while it has few cultural attractions within walking distance, it’s a popular departure point for tours. Here, you’ll have a simple time arranging excursions further afield, whether that be scuba diving in the Caribbean Sea or venturing around the Yucatan Peninsula to discover ancient ruins.

Nighttime in the Hotel Zone is also vibrant. Travelers will be just a short walk from bars and clubs in the happening area of Punta Cancun.

2. El Centro (Downtown Cancun)

You should stay at El Centro if you want to experience Cancun more traditionally. In Downtown Cancun, there is a better harmony between leisure pursuits, regional culture, and gastronomy, showcasing the actual character of the Caribbean region.

Away from the golden sand beaches, this part of town is also has a strong concentration of budget accommodation, perfect for those traveling on a shoestring. Luxury hotels and high-end neighborhoods abound in the Hotel Zone, but regular life resumes in the downtown area.

This is where most of the city residents live, so travelers will find an array of authentic restaurants slinging age-old recipes that attract locals and visitors in equal measure. After sunset, the downtown streets light up in a blaze of neon colors and the prismatic mix of bars creates a bustling nightlife scene not overtaken by rowdy travelers.

After a night out on the town, you’ll have your choice of local activities. Staying in downtown Cancun will have you close to local markets including the happening Mercado 28 and Las Plazas Outlet. The former combines handcrafted souvenirs and rows of food stands serving local specialties. To enjoy some time outdoors without heading to the beach, make your way to Parque Las Palapas.

Join residents in the popular park, which becomes boisterous in the early evening. While you can’t walk to any beaches, getting out of downtown is easy thanks to inexpensive public transport and taxis. Add in the range of affordable hotels and you can see why the city center is one of the best places to stay in Cancun.

3. Punta Cancun

Punta Cancun is the only place to stay in Cancun if you’re looking for a lively nightlife. Punta Cancun, which is essentially the northern portion of the Hotel Zone, is home to some of the busiest bars and clubs in town.

Throughout the day, the neighborhood is a hive of activity, offering the same traveling luxuries as the Hotel Zone with the addition of a more raucous atmosphere. As the sun falls, night owls come out early to claim their territory and Punta Cancun’s many bars quickly fill with patrons.

This part of town never sleeps, with time at the bars flowing into various nightclub experiences that will have you swinging your hips into the early hours. One club not to be missed is Coco Bongo. The iconic hot spot has nightly events with professional dancers and a spellbinding atmosphere.

When your eyes open the next day, you’ll be most thankful for Punta Cancun’s exceptional beaches. White sand beaches come standard in Cancun, however, this part of town is on another level.

With protection from the Horn and Isla Mujeres, the local beaches have maintained their pristine personality even after several major storms. The crystal clear turquoise water will help soothe the hangover. The sea is also home to over a dozen reefs to explore and the calm surface is the perfect playground for water sports, including kitesurfing. Such is the popularity of Punta Cancun, that there are few budget options. But for many, it’s an easy price to pay to have all the fun right on your doorstep.

4. Playa Mujeres

Between the Hotel Zone and downtown is where you’ll find Playa Mujeres. One of the newest areas of town, it combines some of the greatest hotels in Cancun with lovely beaches and a tranquil atmosphere. Playa Mujeres is nearly completely made up of all-inclusive hotels, in contrast to the noisy nightlife nearby Punta Cancun and the crowded El Centro. Because they may take their time and explore the many local attractions, this gives visitors a feeling of exclusivity.

Shielded by Isla Mujeres, the beachfront is tranquil with nothing but the soft ocean breeze disturbing the peace. Most of the waterfront is taken up with resorts offering you a private beach experience. Here, you can kick back under the cabana and watch the blues of the sea mix with the bright blue sky.

With little swell, the water is great for swimming and even exploring on a stand-up paddleboard. Its unique position will give guests easy access to three of the best places to stay in Cancun. Minutes to the west is downtown, in the other direction is the Hotel Zone. Those staying in Playa Mujeres also have access to the local ferry that runs to Isla Mujeres.

With the abundance of major resorts, there are few independent restaurants. Instead, you’ll enjoy bars with waterfront views and multiple restaurants serving international and local cuisine.

5. Isla Mujeres

There aren’t many places better than Isla Mujeres to truly experience paradise. The trek to the tropical paradise is only 8 miles long. The Caribbean Sea envelops it, offering visitors emerald-blue sea, boundless golden sand, and swaying palm trees.

Isla Mujeres is a sight straight out of a dream. From your cozy spot on the sand, you can see deep into the translucent water. It’s as if the water is a mere glass surface providing an observation platform from which to see the magic below.

In classic Cancun fashion, despite its disconnection from the mainland, travelers will want for nothing. In the heart of the island, you’ll find a charming village that’s lovely for shopping and finding that perfect gift to bring home. Travelers will also have access to casual and fine dining restaurants to complement a fun nightlife that doesn’t get too rowdy.

Away from the buildup of the Hotel Zone, Isla Mujeres provides a delightful balance between local culture and vacation fun. For this reason, it’s a popular destination for families. You could easily spend a week enjoying the powdery white sand, but there’s much to do here that will quickly fill up your itinerary.

You can visit a range of natural attractions home to turtles, see ancient ruins or explore the incredible underwater world of Garrafon Natural Reef Park. Best of all, the small island can be seen on the back of golf carts you can rent from various places around Isla Mujeres.

6. Puerto Morelos

Puerto Morelos is so close to the rest of Cancun that people frequently mistake it for another neighborhood inside the resort town. However, Puerto Morelos is a typical Mexican fishing town with a unique flair.

Those arriving via plane will have an easy time reaching this coastal town, as it’s only 20 minutes from Cancun International Airport. Another reason to stay in Puerto Morelos is that it’s halfway between Cancun and Playa del Carmen. With roughly a 35 minute drive to either destination.

Puerto Morelos is similar to Isla Mujeres in that it’s a great place to stay to enjoy the beauty of the Riviera Maya without the rush of the Hotel Zone and central Cancun. Guests can relax on the local beaches with splendid views and casual beachfront bars. Staying here also puts you close to several major attractions, including the Puerto Morelos National Reef Park and a number of exceptional cenotes.

The latter is a series of underground caves filled with crystal clear water, perfect for snorkeling and scuba diving. Beyond the many natural attractions in the village. When you aren’t sunbathing or snorkeling, take your time to explore the town that has an unassuming personality. Get around on foot to discover local restaurants, galleries, and shops. The town also has pop-up markets in the main square on many Friday and Saturday evenings. Additionally, you can pay a visit to one of the oldest gardens in the country, Jardin Botanico, home to native plants and wildlife.

Best places to stay at in new york city

New York City is a great place to visit if you’re looking for a fun, vibrant city filled with culture, history, and amazing food.

If you’re planning on visiting NYC soon, here are some of the best places to stay at in New York City:

1. Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown 5 stars  Manhattan, New York

Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown is located in the heart of Downtown Manhattan in TriBeCa, less than 700 meters from the iconic Brooklyn Bridge and scenic waterfront Seaport District. The hotel is also 1 km from the Cast-Iron Historic District of SoHo, most recognized for its wide variety of shops ranging from trendy luxury boutiques to national and international retail chains and art galleries.. Second stay at The Four Seasons Downtown with consistently good experience. Received a room upgrade upon arrival without status, and with prolific apologies for a slight delay in the room being ready. The staff were consistently kind and friendly, very approachable, and extremely helpful. The room was nicely decorated and very clean. Housekeeping services were timely and high quality. Room service meals were excellent quality and delivered hot and on time. This will continue to be my first choice of NYC hotels, as I tend to gravitate towards downtown.

2. Hotel Giraffe by Library Hotel Collection 4 stars Manhattan, New York

Located in the NoMad neighborhood, this boutique New York City hotel is within 10 minutes’ walk of Union Square Park and Chelsea. There is a rooftop garden and free Wi-Fi.

Decorated with photography from the 1920’s and 1930’s, each room at Hotel Giraffe by Library Hotel Collection includes amenities like an iPod docking station and flat-screen cable TV.

Soul Food Guesthouse at Mont Morris is located 1 km north of Central Park and 1.4 km from Columbia University.

All rooms come with a TV. Each room has a private bathroom. For your comfort, you will find free toiletries and a hairdryer. Boothe was the best host: welcoming, friendly and fun. We had a great chat on the first day and I felt at home right off the bat! The room was huge, gorgeous and spotless! The bed was comfy but a bit too soft for me. Each to their own tho. The location was perfect. Away from the hustle and bustle of downtown NY but within easy reach thanks to the subway around the corner. And safe for a solo female traveler!

5. Sanctuary NYC Retreats 4 stars  Manhattan, New York

Located on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, this retreat-style, limited-amenity accommodation boasts an on-site yoga studio, Stanton Street Yoga, with free unlimited classes daily for guests and community outreach projects. The apartment was a perfect size for our family of 5. We didn’t spend much time in it but it met all our needs with comfortable beds, an excellent kitchen and a very nice outdoor space (unfortunately, as it was April, it was a bit on the cold side when we travelled to make the most of it but in the summer I can imagine that space would be excellent.) Our room faced the back of the building and was quiet during the night. There were two supermarkets just downstairs so it was easy to get breakfast etc. Katz Deli was just round the corner if anyone fancied a more touristy breakfast. Communication was excellent with the owners always promptly replying to any queries.

They were incredibly accommodating and moved our booking twice due to covid. Staff at reception were very friendly and helpful. I can’t stress strongly enough how helpful and friendly everyone involved in Sanctuary were before, during and after our visit. Our flight home was 5 hours after check out but they took all our luggage and kept it safe until we were ready to leave – this meant we got the benefit of our final day. It was much appreciated. Location is really excellent. The Lower East Side is an area on the cusp of full gentrification and in 5 years time I fear it may lose all its original character but right now it was full of new bars and restaurants. A really vibrant area to stay and one that felt safe for our family to wander around in the evening. The bars and restaurants are full of life and have a very welcoming atmosphere. Subway was a five minute walk away and was just across the road from the excellent Essex Market. We did a fair bit of walking into the village and midtown but the subway lines also took us everywhere we needed to go and it was an ideal location to base a sightseeing visit. We would 100% return to Sanctuary. It was a great place to stay and offered excellent value for money.
