1. The Caribbean Sea
The Caribbean Sea is arguably the best place to snorkel in Mexico because it has tons of coral reefs and rich sea life.

2. Akumal
Akumal is arguably the most popular and well-known place to snorkel in Mexico. Here you can snorkel with turtles if you go on a guided tour.
You’ll have the opportunity to spot tons of fish, stingrays, and turtles during your snorkeling experience in this bay.
The only downside is it’s always pretty busy, but it’s well worth it. The shallow seagrass provides a source of food for many sea animals close to shore, so it’s a great spot for offshore snorkeling.

3. Cozumel

Another hidden treasure is Isla de Enmedio which is also part of the Veracruz Reef System. The island is located across from Boca del Rio, which is an excellent place to vacation.
The island is accessible from Alvarado, about an hour’s drive from Boca del Rio. Once you’re on Isla de Enmedio, it’s an excellent place for snorkeling along with the reef system.

11. The Pacific Ocean

Los Cabos is a trendy vacation spot and a great snorkeling destination. One of the best spots to snorkel in Los Cabos is Pelican Rock at Land’s End, an iconic and often photographed place.

The only place in the world cenotes are found is on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. They’re formed from sunken bedrock, which creates pools of fresh groundwater.
Cenotes can be completely underground caves, open pools of water, or semi-open. They are awesome for snorkeling in and give you a completely different experience than snorkeling out in the ocean. You will see completely different wildlife, rock formations and visibility since the water is fresh and not salty.
The water in cenotes averages 75 degrees Fahrenheit year-round.

Mexico is a great place to snorkel year-round. However, the absolute best time to snorkel varies depending on which part of the country you’re in.
For example, if you’re planning on visiting Cancun in June, July and August, then there are several factors that affect your experience. First, these months are the hottest months of the year in Cancun with an average high temperature of 86 degrees Fahrenheit. Second, there is little to no rain during this time of year so visibility will be clear but not too clear (it will still be cloudy). Third, there are fewer tourists visiting during this time period so it will be easier to find a spot that isn’t crowded by other people. Finally, there are many festivals going on during this time which means more activities for everyone!
If you’re looking for something different from what you could find at home then consider visiting Puerto Vallarta during November through February when temperatures start cooling down to an average high of 73 degrees Fahrenheit. The water is also much colder during these months so don’t forget your wetsuit or drysuit!
If you’re looking to go snorkeling in Mexico, you’re in luck: the best time to do it is between October and April. The Yucatan peninsula, where Cancun is located, gets most of its rain during the rainy season (June to October), accounting for 90% of the annual rainfall.
