What to know how to apply for a US visa in Russia? The process of getting the visa has become far easier over the last couple of years. In this article, I will be telling you step-by-step on how to get one.

The United States and Russia do not allow visa-free entry to their citizens. While this is not a problem for most Russians wishing to visit the US, the fact that the US officials can deny you a visa at their discretion can be troubling. To overcome this type of uncertainty, you can apply for a US visa through Russian consulates. In 2018, there are 26 offices which process US visas in the country, including in Moscow and Saint Petersburg.

Visas are required to travel to Russia. Getting a visa is not easy and the visa process can get complicated. In most cases you must apply via the Russian Embassy or Consulate in your country or in place where you live. There are a few exceptions like for example citizens of China do not need to apply for Russian visas if they stay in Russia for less than 72 hours.

U.S. Mission in Russia no longer offers non-diplomatic visa services due to the Russian government’s April 23 notification prohibiting the U.S. Embassy Russia from employing foreign nationals in any capacity.  Russian nationals may continue applying for non-immigrant visas at any U.S. embassy or consulate where they can obtain an appointment.

Due to the suspension of immigrant visa services at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, the U.S. Department of State has designated the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw to process immigrant visas for residents of Russia.  Please find additional information here.
